Meme lore
What is the Spiderman Pointing At Spiderman meme?
Spiderman Pointing At Spiderman shows two identical Spider-Men from the 1967 cartoon simultaneously pointing at each other in accusation. It is used when two things, people, or ideas are the same but each denies responsibility - or when hypocrisy is on full display.
Origin & history
The scene comes from the 1967 Spider-Man animated series episode "Double Identity," in which a villain impersonates Spider-Man and the two end up pointing at each other in confusion. The cartoon's limited animation and identical poses made the still instantly recognizable as a reaction image.
The meme resurged on Reddit around 2018 and has since become one of the most searched meme templates online, with nearly 40,000 monthly searches. It appears whenever people, brands, or ideas are caught being hypocritical, identical, or equally at fault. A popular three-way variant adds a third Spider-Man for even more mutual accusation.
