What is the Wat Grandma meme?
Wat Grandma (also Wat Lady) is a reaction still of an older woman in a blue floral top, mouth open in bafflement, at an outdoor crowd. Paired with the slang “wat” (a misspelled “what”), it means you cannot process what you are seeing.
Origin & history
Uncaptioned parade still of the Wat Lady (Imgflip WAT-Lady blank, 604×404). Forum recaps of KYM comments place the snapshot at a 2008 Fourth of July parade in Camden, Maine (photographer unknown). This is the wide crowd frame, not the old 140×250 portrait with baked “wat.”
