Meme lore
What is the Me Explaining To My Mom meme?
This two-panel template contrasts an animated explanation on the left with a visibly unconvinced or distracted listener on the right. It is used for jokes about overexplaining niche interests, complicated stories, technical details, or anything the other person does not understand.
Origin & history
The template consists of two side-by-side photographic reaction panels: an expressive speaker making hand gestures and a seated listener looking away with a skeptical expression. The precise identities of the people and the original upload context are unclear, so the format is best documented by its recurring meme usage rather than a definitive source attribution.
