What is the It Is Wednesday My Dudes meme?
It Is Wednesday My Dudes is a Vine-era meme built around a short clip of a man in a green frog mask screaming "It is Wednesday, my dudes" at the camera. The joke is less about the frog itself and more about the weekly ritual of posting the line every Wednesday as a chaotic, low-effort celebration of midweek.
How the joke works: Use the top box for a mundane or exhausted midweek setup and the bottom box for the frog-mask’s loud, ritualistic “IT IS WEDNESDAY” eruption.
Where it comes from
Jimmy Here uploaded the original Vine on January 27, 2014, showing himself in a frog mask and shouting the now-famous line. The six-second video was absurd and loud enough to stick, and fans began re-sharing it every Wednesday as a running joke about surviving the workweek.
By the mid-2010s the phrase had outgrown Vine itself, spreading through Tumblr posts, Reddit threads, and meme pages that paired the still frame with captions about hump day, school, or office life. The format works because it is simple, repeatable, and tied to a calendar day, which helped it survive long after Vine shut down.
When to use it
