Meme lore
What is the Rodrick Screaming meme?
Rodrick Screaming is a single-photo reaction macro of Rodrick Heffley wide-eyed and open-mouthed in a swimming pool. The blank works as a two-line image macro: establish the ordinary trigger above, then name the person, animal, or situation reacting far too intensely below. The wet hair, fixed stare, and wide-open mouth make the reaction read as immediate panic rather than a gradual escalation.
Origin & history
The image is a pool scene featuring Devon Bostick as Rodrick Heffley in the 2012 film Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days. The exact source of this extracted still and its first use as a meme template are unclear.
