Meme lore
What is the Jason Momoa Sneaking Up meme?
Jason Momoa Sneaking Up is a photo meme of Jason Momoa creeping up behind Henry Cavill during a 2017 Comic-Con panel, finger to his lips in a "shhh" gesture. Despite the stealth pose, Momoa is huge and obvious, making the image perfect for jokes about failed sneakiness or surprise appearances.
Origin & history
At the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con Justice League panel, photographer Jerod Harris captured Jason Momoa playfully sneaking up behind Henry Cavill while Cavill answered questions. Momoa hunches with a finger to his lips, but his size and long hair make him impossible to miss.
The image spread across Twitter, Reddit, and Instagram within hours because the contrast is instantly funny: the performance of stealth versus the reality of being a six-foot-four Aquaman standing directly behind someone. Meme makers use it for jump scares, surprise visits, lurking in group chats, or any attempt at sneaking that is obviously not working.
