Meme lore
What is the Left Exit 12 Swerving Car meme?
The Left Exit 12 meme, also known as the Swerving Car meme, contrasts a sensible route with a tempting alternative. Labels are usually placed over the straight path and the curved exit, while the blue car represents the person abruptly choosing the exit.
Origin & history
This template combines two road scenes: an overhead highway sign showing a straight route and a curved exit, followed by a low-resolution clip or still of a blue car sharply crossing toward the ramp. The exact origin and editing history of the combined image are unclear, while its meme usage centers on impulsively abandoning the obvious choice.
