Meme lore
What is the Bike Fall / Stick In The Wheel meme?
Bike Fall is a three-panel self-sabotage template. The cyclist deliberately puts a stick into his own wheel, crashes, and visually sets up a final caption naming the person, group, or circumstance he intends to blame.
Origin & history
This illustrated sequence appears to come from a short comic or cartoon depicting a cyclist causing his own crash by putting a stick into the spokes. It became a reusable meme format because the three sequential actions map cleanly onto a setup, a deliberate mistake, and misplaced blame. Specific publication and artist details are unclear.
