Meme lore
What is the Flex Tape Slap meme?
This template uses the recognizable Flex Tape infomercial repair moment: an obvious leak or failure is met with an emphatic slap of tape. Add a top caption describing the problem and a bottom caption presenting an overly confident fix, often for code, work, relationships, budgets, or plans.
Origin & history
Flex Tape advertisements popularized exaggerated demonstrations in which a damaged or leaking object is repaired on camera with a forceful application of black waterproof tape. Online meme versions repurpose the before-and-after visual to joke about applying a simplistic patch to a problem that clearly needs a more substantial solution.
