Meme lore
What is the Expanding Brain Three-Panel meme?
Expanding Brain (Galaxy Brain) is a ranking meme: blank left captions escalate from ordinary thinking to sarcastic cosmic genius while the right column shows increasingly luminous brains. This three-panel cut uses a blue skull, a glowing-neuron profile, then a beam-radiating head — a shorter sibling of the four-panel Whomst template.
Origin & history
Know Your Meme credits an r/dankmemes post by janskishimanski on January 31, 2017 pairing who → whom → whomst → whomst'd with four stock brain stills. This file is a three-panel variant of that family (skull, glowing neurons, radiating beams), not the four-row starburst stack.
