Meme lore
What is the Look At This Graph meme?
The Look At This Graph meme is an edit of Nickelback's 'Photograph' music video where Chad Kroeger holds up a framed bar chart instead of a photo, with the lyric changed to 'look at this graph.' It is used to sarcastically present dubious data or force people to examine a chart.
Origin & history
Nickelback released 'Photograph' in September 2005 with a music video featuring Chad Kroeger holding a framed childhood photo while singing the opening line. The earnest, slightly awkward delivery made the scene ripe for parody years later.
On April 27, 2015, YouTuber Euphemism for Magic uploaded 'Nickelstats,' replacing the photo with a bar graph and editing the lyric to 'look at this graph.' The clip hit r/youtubehaiku and spawned countless variations for presenting misleading statistics, cherry-picked data, and joke charts in debates and social posts.
