Meme lore
What is the Dwight Schrute False meme?
The Dwight Schrute False meme comes from The Office (US), showing Dwight interrupting someone to bluntly declare 'False.' It is used to shut down a claim, correct misinformation, or pedantically reject a statement - often in a humorous or know-it-all tone.
Origin & history
In the episode 'Product Recall' (2007), Dwight Schrute - played by Rainn Wilson - interrupts a meeting to correct a colleague by simply saying 'False.' The deadpan delivery and immediate rejection made the moment instantly quotable among Office fans.
As The Office grew into one of the most streamed shows of the 2010s, the 'False' screenshot spread as a reaction image for pedantic corrections, fact-checking jokes, and shutting down bad takes. It remains a go-to template in comment sections, group chats, and meme pages whenever someone posts an obviously wrong statement.
