What is the Stay Calm meme?
Stay Calm (also called Prattkeeping) is a meme of Chris Pratt as Owen Grady in Jurassic World holding both palms out in a commanding stop gesture. It represents trying to maintain order, calm chaos, or hold back multiple unruly forces at once - students, toddlers, servers, or group chat arguments.
How the joke works: Put the situation or person demanding calm in the top box, then put the multiple chaotic forces being held back in the bottom box.
Where it comes from
The image is a still from the 2015 blockbuster Jurassic World. In the raptor paddock scene, Owen Grady - a dinosaur trainer played by Chris Pratt - enters to rescue a fallen worker and uses outstretched hands and steady eye contact to establish alpha status and keep three Velociraptors from attacking.
Within weeks of the film's June 2015 release, real zookeepers, veterinarians, and pet owners began posting photos mimicking Pratt's pose with penguins, tortoises, dogs, and other animals under the 'Prattkeeping' hashtag. The meme became a shorthand for anyone acting as the calm authority figure amid escalating chaos.
