Meme lore
What is the Rick and Carl meme?
Rick and Carl is a two-panel still of Rick Grimes leaning into his son Carl with escalating intensity. It’s the go-to template for painful dad jokes: setup, “Dad stop,” punchline, and Carl’s defeated plea — often with Rick’s accent turning “Carl” into “Coral.”
Origin & history
A two-panel crop of Rick Grimes lecturing Carl Grimes against the prison “C BLOCK” wall. Meme users map dad-joke beats onto Rick’s calm setup and desperate lean-in punchline while Carl stays the reluctant audience.
