Meme lore
What is the Happy Smiling Cat meme?
Happy Smiling Cat is a close-up of an orange-and-white bicolor with eyes shut, cheeks bunched, pink bell on a dark collar, on blue patterned bedding. It is a generic satisfied-cat reaction — not the grey British Shorthair “Happy Cat” / I Can Has Cheezburger still.
Origin & history
Unsigned photo of an orange-and-white bicolor on a bed, pink bell collar. Photographer, date, and first meme use are unclear. Not the ICHC Happy Cat (grey British Shorthair, FancyCat / Something Awful 2003).
