Meme lore
What is the Bill Murray Pointing meme?
This template shows Bill Murray pointing at the viewer with a knowing, approving expression. Add a top-and-bottom caption to praise someone, celebrate a small victory, assign playful blame, or sarcastically declare that a person or situation is impressive.
Origin & history
The still comes from the 1981 film Stripes, in which Bill Murray appears in an Army setting. The pointing pose was later reused as a reaction and caption image for direct approval, congratulations, and humorous callouts; the precise meme popularization timeline is unclear.
