Meme lore
What is the Dafuq Did I Just Read meme?
This reaction template uses two portraits of Samuel Johnson: first reading intently, then staring forward with skeptical confusion. Add a setup or strange statement to the top and the incredulous reaction to the bottom.
Origin & history
The imagery depicts English writer and lexicographer Samuel Johnson in period clothing, with the upper image showing him reading and the lower image presenting a skeptical expression. Internet meme versions pair the sequential portraits with captions that turn an initially ordinary reading situation into a confused reaction.
