Meme lore
What is the Star Wars No meme?
The Star Wars No template pairs an ominous Darth Vader image with Luke Skywalker's anguished reaction during the climactic confrontation in The Empire Strikes Back. It is used for dramatic reveals, unwanted truths, sudden bad news, and emphatic rejection.
Origin & history
This template uses consecutive shots from the Cloud City confrontation in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back. Darth Vader's imposing reveal in the upper frame is followed by Luke Skywalker's distressed scream in the lower frame, creating a natural setup-and-rejection structure that became popular in online reaction memes. The precise origin of the two-panel caption arrangement is unclear.
