Meme lore
What is the Thomas Had Never Seen Such Bullshit meme?
Thomas Had Never Seen Such Bullshit is a reaction meme featuring Thomas the Tank Engine from Thomas & Friends with an angry, disgusted face and a profane caption written in the show's narrator voice. The humor comes from pairing a wholesome children's character with outrage at something absurd or unfair.
Origin & history
Thomas the Tank Engine has been a fixture of children's television since the 1980s, narrated in a distinctive third-person style by voices like Ringo Starr and Michael Angelis. Fans began pairing screen captures of Thomas's more expressive faces with captions that mimic the narrator's tone but use profanity - "Thomas had never seen such bullshit before" became the most popular variant.
The meme spread through Reddit's meme communities and Twitter around 2018–2019 as a reaction image for disbelief, frustration, and calling out nonsense. The juxtaposition of an innocent blue train and aggressive language is the entire joke - Thomas becomes a stand-in for anyone witnessing something too ridiculous to accept quietly.
