Meme lore
What is the Mind Blown / Expanding Brain meme?
Mind Blown / Expanding Brain (also called Galaxy Brain) is a four-panel vertical template. The right column is baked: a small blue brain scan, then a glowing neural map, a luminous pink-white brain, then a cyan brain radiating starbursts. The left column is blank white for four escalating captions. It is not the Pokémon Giovanni “mind blown” GIF.
Origin & history
The visual format is Expanding Brain / Galaxy Brain, not the Pokémon mind-blown reaction. Know Your Meme credits an r/dankmemes post by janskishimanski on January 31, 2017 pairing who → whom → whomst → whomst'd with these four stock brain images. The template then spread on r/dankmemes and r/MemeEconomy through February 2017.
