Know Your Meme credits the earliest known usage to Redditor svenskOST_ on r/dankmemes, February 19, 2020 (mother comes home / you're a burglar / you're a burglar). A February 20, 2020 r/dankmemes post by xCrylol (“You need to pee / Finally you reach the bathroom / You're dreaming”) helped it go viral. Two- and three-panel variants followed that month.
