Meme lore
What is the Epic Handshake (Predator Film Still) meme?
Predator Handshake is an object-labeling and comparison meme based on the handshake between Dutch and Dillon in the 1987 action film Predator. The two sides are labeled separately, while their clasped hands represent an unexpected agreement, alliance, or common ground.
Origin & history
The scene depicts Dutch, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, greeting Dillon, played by Carl Weathers, with an exaggerated muscular handshake. Online meme usage generally crops the scene to the arms and hands, turning the two participants into labels for groups, ideas, or behaviors that surprisingly share something in common.
