Meme lore
What is the This Is Fine Dog meme?
This Is Fine is a two-panel reaction template featuring a cartoon dog calmly drinking coffee as its surroundings burn. It is commonly used to express denial, forced optimism, burnout, or an absurdly calm response to an obvious disaster.
Origin & history
This Is Fine is adapted from a 2013 Gunshow comic by American cartoonist KC Green. The original scene depicts a dog sitting calmly in a burning room and reassuring itself that everything is fine. Cropped panels, redraws, and captioned versions spread broadly across social media and became a durable internet reaction format. The exact first viral repost is unclear.
