Meme lore
What is the Joey Tribbiani Side-Eye Reaction meme?
This two-panel Friends reaction template shows Joey moving from casual confidence to wide-eyed suspicion. Add a setup or assumption to the first panel and a surprising realization, contradiction, or uncomfortable consequence to the second.
Origin & history
The template uses two adjacent frames of Matt LeBlanc as Joey Tribbiani in a Friends scene. The first frame shows him looking comfortable and self-assured, while the second exaggerates the reaction with a startled sideways stare. Online meme usage generally repurposes the contrast to show a situation becoming suspicious or unexpectedly awkward; the exact original episode context is unclear.
