Meme lore
What is the I'm Tired Of Pretending It's Not meme?
The template pairs Murray Franklin asking or implying something in the top panel with Arthur Fleck, dressed as the Joker, delivering a blunt visual confession in the bottom panel. It works best for unpopular opinions, guilty pleasures, uncomfortable truths, and admissions that someone is no longer willing to hide.
Origin & history
The upper image depicts Robert De Niro as Murray Franklin and the lower image depicts Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck during the live television confrontation in Joker (2019), directed by Todd Phillips. Online meme adaptations commonly add a question, assumption, or setup above Murray and an emphatic admission below Joker; the first captioned use is unclear.
