Meme lore
What is the Create This oinion wont make me cry oigon Meme Online meme?
The "This Onion Won't Make Me Cry" meme is a three-panel exploitable comic where a stick figure confidently claims an onion cannot make him cry, the personified onion delivers a harsh truth in the middle panel, and the figure breaks down sobbing in the final panel. It humorously swaps physical onion tears for emotional devastation.
Origin & history
The comic's simple stick-figure style resembles webcomic formats like Cyanide & Happiness, though it originated as a standalone exploitable template on image-sharing platforms rather than from a named series. The three-panel structure sets up false confidence, inserts a customizable "truth bomb" in the middle, and pays off with exaggerated crying.
It gained traction on Reddit's meme communities in the late 2010s as a versatile format for fandom disappointments, harsh adult realities, and existential dread. The personified onion became a stand-in for any source of unwelcome truth - news, nostalgia, or a friend stating the obvious.
