Meme lore
What is the Bonjour Bear meme?
Bonjour Bear is a reaction template showing a polar bear cub emerging from a snowy opening. The baked-in greeting makes it useful for personifying an inconvenient thought, bill, task, problem, or unexpected visitor that suddenly appears.
Origin & history
This template appears to derive from a photograph or stock-style image of a polar bear cub peeking from snow, later paired with the large blue French greeting “Bonjour.” Its precise original source and earliest online meme usage are unclear; the format spread through reaction-image and caption-meme sharing.
