Meme lore
What is the Stop It Patrick, You’re Scaring Him meme?
This SpongeBob six-panel template is commonly used to frame an interaction that escalates from a strange claim or action into an alarming reaction. The caption typically identifies what Patrick is doing wrong or what has become too intense, while the increasingly expressive characters sell the joke.
Origin & history
The template uses a six-frame SpongeBob SquarePants sequence featuring Patrick Star, Squidward Tentacles, and SpongeBob SquarePants. Its meme identity is primarily driven by the escalating facial expressions and final alarmed SpongeBob pose rather than by baked-in text; captions are added by users to reinterpret the exchange around a current topic or personal situation.
