Meme lore
What is the Maggie Simpson Angry GIF meme?
The Maggie Simpson Angry meme is a reaction GIF of baby Maggie from The Simpsons sitting in a chair, sucking her pacifier with narrowed eyes and a judgmental stare. It expresses silent disapproval, annoyance, or being deeply unimpressed without saying a word.
Origin & history
Maggie Simpson has been a staple of The Simpsons since the show premiered in 1989, rarely speaking but communicating through pacifier sounds and expressions. Clips of Maggie looking irritated or unimpressed were shared as reaction GIFs on Tumblr, Twitter, and Reddit throughout the 2010s, with this particular seated, pacifier-sucking stare becoming one of the most recognizable.
The format works because Maggie's baby status makes the judgment feel absurdly stern - a tiny character wordlessly conveying adult-level disappointment. It spread alongside other Simpsons reaction GIFs and remains a go-to for subtweeting, commenting on bad takes, or reacting to news you dislike without engaging directly.
