What is the Yao Ming Face meme?
The Yao Ming Face meme (also called Bitch Please) is a rage-comic drawing of NBA center Yao Ming wearing a wide, dismissive grin. It expresses smug disbelief or 'nice try' energy - used when someone's boast, excuse, or hot take is too weak to take seriously.
Origin & history
During a post-game press conference in May 2009, Houston Rockets center Yao Ming reacted with an amused smirk while teammate Ron Artest (Metta World Peace) told a story about a fan offering him beer. A screenshot of Yao's expression caught the internet's attention for its perfect 'bitch, please' energy.
On July 11, 2010, Reddit artist downlow posted unused rage comic drawings, including a traced version of Yao's face. Commenter alkalait named it 'Bitch Please,' and it spread through rage comics, 4chan, Tumblr, and Facebook as a dismissive reaction - often after someone one-ups a weak claim or states something obvious with too much confidence.
