So You're Telling Me (also called Third World Skeptical Kid, Skeptical Third World Child, or Skeptical Kid) shows a young boy giving a sharp side-eye to a woman crouched in front of him. Captions usually follow a top/bottom setup: an unbelievable claim, then the skeptical punchline — often starting with "So you're telling me…".

The photograph was taken in Gulu, northern Uganda, in 2012 during a medical-student charity trip organized by Pros for Africa. Redditor Nepalm captured the image of Chicago medical student Heena Pranav interacting with a local boy at a market. On June 22, 2012, Redditor anute3392 posted it to r/pics, where it reached the front page with over 17,000 upvotes in a day.
The boy's skeptical expression made the photo an instant macro template, spawning captions that contrast Western privilege with serious hardship.
